Winter Decor/Craft Room

I know I have been far and few in between lately with my posts. I'm SORRY!
But After Christmas, I was so burnt out with crafts that I had no ambition to make anything for a few weeks. Then....if I wanted to make something, my craft room was such a mess, that I couldn't even motivate myself to do anything about it. UNTIL...this week!
Monday I was in the mood to rearrange my craft room and pick up the floor. I had empty boxes and fabric laying everywhere. Piles of "stuff" just everywhere!
So here is my craft room now.
Its not comepletly done. (when will it ever be?!) But its much more organized.
I have a computer desk. My "Cricut desk", my sewing desk, and a fabric cutting table, AND I was able to actually open and use my new ironing board!

This isn't the best photo, but I was trying to get most of the room in just one photo, for now.
Then after I rearranged, I was in the mood to make a couple things. I made a new table runner and a Winter wreath.

I made my table runner reversible! I have been on a table runner kick, lately. I am hoping to have a different one for each season and/or holiday.
Its nothing fancy. But I experimented with cutting fabric on my Cricut. I cut some snowflakes for my Winter side, and some hearts for my Valentines Day side. I didn't put any batting in it or anything...and didn't do any quilting. I like having it thin. I helps the things I put on top of it stand more stable.
Maybe I will get a photo of it in action sometime.

Here is my new Winter Wreath! I LOVE it!
I wanted to make a wreath and had no idea how I was going to go about it.
(I have also been on a wreath kick too!)
So when I was cleaning through my craft room, I came across these pewter glittered snowflake stickers that I bought at the dollar store before Christmas. So I cut some circles from my Cricut and cut out the word Winter. Glued everything together and glued them on a already painted white grapevine wreath that I got at the thrift store.
Simple, Simple, Simple!
I like the white and silvery/gray look.

Well, thats it for now. I'll post more soon.

Eventually I would like to do a little more on my blog such as featuring things I have seen on other craft blogs and eventually some giveaways. I am trying to wait until I have a few more followers.
So if you like my blog, please become a follower
and show it to your friends!

Thanks!!

Quilted Bench Runner....

Good Morning!!

So I got a new big bed a couple weeks ago, and while we were at "the mattress store", we overheard the "mattress man" tell another customer that you shouldn't sit on the edge of the bed for long periods of time because there is some metal rod or frame that is in the mattress and you can bend it out of shape. I am not sure how much truth there is to this....but, I'll do whatever to try to take care of my fancy new big bed to help it last as long as it can in good shape.

Sooooo........don't worry! I'm getting to the point of this post!

We decided we needed some sort of bench for the end of the bed. Well...they are pretty pricey and I still have other things I want to get to "complete" our bedroom.

So I searched around....willing to get creative. There aren't very many furniture stores around here....but I did go to one (the last place I looked)...and they had some nice ones, that weren't in my price range, BUT.....they did have a couple kitchen table benches that had "defects"...and they were willing to sell cheap. So that's what I got! Oh and the defect was nothing but a scuffed up corner, that you can barely tell without anyone telling you about it.

Then I decided I needed some baskets for underneath and something cushy on top to sit on. So for now...I decided to make a quilted table runner with extra batting to make it thick and cushy. This is my 4th quilted project ever!.....So it isn't perfect....but I still like it. I have the darnest time with binding. I have a friend that gave me a couple boxes of scrap fabric and that is what I used, in greens, blues, creams, and browns. Not too bad....for my 4th project like this. I'll get the hang of it someday. It took me about....3 1/2 hours last night to make it.

My kitty, Zoe, just had to get in on the photos. She wanted to model, I guess....haha.

She wasnt movin'.

I really like the colors! The nice thing about this bench....it is solid wood, and for the price, I wouldn't feel bad about sanding it and staining it or painting it later on. And yes my baskets are empty at the moment....I just put them there yesterday. Got to find something to put in them! OH....and I also put some of that grippy stuff that you put under a rug so that it doesn't move. I put some under the runner, so it stays in place. =)

(PS: I just noticed that the runner looks shorter on one end in all the photos....I didn't notice until I was working on this blog, that I didnt have the runner put on evenly. Opps! Owell...you get the idea. I just went and fixed it, but I'm not re-taking photos and re-editing them and re-doing this post.)

Quilted Table Runner

I am finally posting SOMETHING! Sorry it took so long. I have a lot of projects going on all at once and have been busy at work as well.

So last week, I went to my niece's dress rehearsal for her dance recital to take photos, and later that night, at about 9:30, I decided it was a good time to start a quilted table runner that I have been wanting to make.
Good idea, right!?

It didn't take me long to do. I worked on it that night, the next morning than finished it this past weekend. I don't have much quilting experience. I have never taken any classes or anything. I made one quilt on my own in college in a day. I haven't 'quilted' anything really since there. I have just be in the mood to lately. So....I just whipped this up....nothing fancy. It is far from perfect, but I am happy with it! I started getting a little frustrated with my sewing machine near the end, because it wanted to give me a hard time when I wasthiscloseto being DONE! So....I fixed that problem. I bought a NEW sewing machine! But not until after I finished my runner.

I thought the fabric was fun, and cheery and I wanted to make something with it. It was just some fat quarters that I came across. I kept it simple with straight strips. I made the edging....THAT was a pain in the butt....I definitly learned a few things from this project.

Sooo....now I am onto a new project with my NEWWWW machine and I will post ASAP!
